Question: When I use a particular form letter in QuickLaw the data gets filled in, but it appears in the wrong place in the document (sometimes all on the same line). How do I fix this?
Answer: Sometimes users inadvertently move the bookmarks around in one of QuickLaw's Word templates. Open up the template document using QuickLaw's Setup program. Once in Word, turn on the Bookmarks feature so you can see them by using Tools/Options, click the 'View' tab and click to turn on 'Bookmarks'. Now you can see the bookmarks in your document... they look like upper case 'I's.
To find out the name of a particular bookmark position the cursor on one of the Bookmark 'I's (by clicking on it) in the document and from the menu click "Insert" then "Bookmark". Word will bring up the list of bookmarks currently in the doc and highlight the bookmark name that you clicked on.
An alternative is to click "Insert" then "Bookmark" from the menu, click on the bookmark name you are looking for, and click the "Go to" button in the dialog box. This will move the cursor to that bookmark in the document.
I find that the easiest fix for 'confused' bookmarks is to simply re-insert the bookmarks in the document over again. Position the cursor where you want something to appear, click Insert/Bookmark ... you will probably see a wrong bookmark name already defaulted... just type over that with the right bookmark name. Do that until you have everything they way you want it.
This works because you can only use a bookmark name once in each document. So, if you have a bookmark somewhere in error and you insert it again in the RIGHT spot the bad bookmark will be deleted. Most Word docs only have a few bookmarks so this usually doesn't take very long.
