QuickLaw uses the login name that you used to log into the program to sign the documents. This methods allows each person using the program to have their own name put at the bottom of the letters they create. Each login name has a "Short name" used to login and a 'Long name' for the letters and such. For example, I might make a user called "Steve" and the 'long name' for Steve would be "Stephen Schneider".
These names (both short and long) can be edited using the "6. Edit Users" QuickLaw program menu off the Windows Start button. This option should have been added to the Windows menu system during installation. QuickLaw comes with only user named "User1" and the long name is also "User1".
From Windows click on the Start button, choose "Programs", then choose "QuickLaw", then choose "6. Edit Users". Login as "User1" with no password (unless you added a password to User1).
Click on "Manage Users". You should get a screen like this...

Click on the New User button. You should see a screen like this...

Type in your login name, the long name (that will be put on the bottom of your letters, and select the category of person (Attorney, Staff, Manager, etc.).
Click the OK button.
It will save the new user WITH A PASSWORD equal to the login (short) name. If you don't want a password click the "Clear Password" button.

The default permissions will be QLUser, which means that the user can pretty much do anything in QuickLaw. If you want to reduce the permissions this user is allowed to use then click on one of the other options. We recommend leaving it QLUser.
