Speeding up QuickLaw

Reattaching

The biggest time waster is reattaching all the data files when QuickLaw starts up. If you see a bar slowly going across the bottom of your screen every time you load QuickLaw then you are doing this. Edit the QuickLaw.INI file, look near the bottom of the file, and change the “Reattach=Yes” to “Reattach=No”. This will only cause problems if you lose your network connection, or try to run QuickLaw without logging on the network. Neither problem will cause any harm, but QuickLaw won’t work.

Compact

Run FileFix regularly on all your files. At least once each week. Put this as a task for your computer to run at night or on weekends, as it can be very time consuming.

Close files

The more files you keep in the Open Cases the slower QuickLaw will run. Run the Close procedure on every file in your system that is not active, and try to keep your open files to a minimum.
